Bio

Andrea Tachelet (née Pullicino) is a Maltese ceramic artist, educator and researcher whose practice bridges material exploration, education and contemporary craft. Born in Malta in 1979, she has worked with clay since childhood and, after completing a degree in Anthropology, went on to graduate with distinction from an MA in Ceramics at Cardiff School of Art & Design. As a lecturer in Ceramics and coordinator of the Fine Arts Department at MCAST, she has extensive teaching experience across formal education, technical masterclasses and community programmes. She produces her work on the wheel, bridging the gap between traditional ceramics and a process-led artistic practice that explores liminality, materiality and the embodied act of making. Drawing on the experience of island life she is working increasingly with locally sourced clays and glaze materials, developing ceramics that physically embody Malta\'s geology while reflecting its cultural and environmental histories.
