Bio

Brought up in a Lace and Weaving Industry/Shop in Saqqajja Square, Rabat, Malta, Marika has been designing and making lace since the young age of 7. In the year 2007, she abstracted Maltese Lace to show the need to change in mentality. In 2010, she graduated with a HND Diploma in 3D Design at MCAST Art & Design Institute. She made her debut exhibition of Maltese Bobbin Lace Fine Art Works at the Malta Art Fair in 2017 at MFCC. Today she sells her creations which vary from fashion accessories, art and commissioned works. Marika strongly believes that, for Maltese Lace to survive, it is important to keep creating new ideas which conform with contemporary trends yet keeping the traditional techniques of the craft.
