Bio

I am 37 years old and work as a hairdresser, but in my free time I dedicate myself to traditional handmade crafts, a passion that runs deeply in my family. My grandmother was a painter, my mother practices embroidery, and my sister specializes in gilding and also teaches it. From a young age, I began learning ganutell on my own through a book my mother bought for me. In 2018, encouraged by my sister, I started studying monastery work through lifelong learning courses, and in my first year I won the Premju Ġieħ l-Artiġjanat for my work. I continued the monastery work course until last year, and this year I began studying gold embroidery, something I had been interested in for many years but never had the opportunity to learn before. I am determined to continue growing in these traditional crafts and help preserve them for future generations.
