Monastic Delights Co Ltd is a start up company registered in Malta in 2023. The company produces the Delectat range of artisan Maltese Foods including cheese, yogurt and honey. Delectat in Latin means pleasant/pleasing/delicacy.

The kind of cheeses marketed under this brand owe their origin to the works of monks in medieval European monasteries , hence the names given to the cheeses: they are named after local Maltese monastic orders. The milk used in Delectat cheeses is sourced from carefully selected local sheep and goat milk suppliers. All our dairy products are prepared from pasteurized milk to render them safe for human consumption. The milk is fermented into cheese in a controlled manner by our cheese maker giving rise to the desired aromas and texture. No chemical preservatives are applied to the cheese at any stage of the production process. Instead, the friendly and safe microbes employed during the affinage of the cheese fend of naturally against intrusion of undesirable ones rendering the outer rind edible.
